Builders waste clearance for trades and renovation projects

Building work makes waste faster than anything else. A kitchen rip-out, a knocked-through wall or a re-plastered room leaves rubble, timber, packaging and old fittings piled wherever there was space. Rubbish Removals Ltd clears builders waste for builders, fitters, landlords and homeowners. We load it from the house, the garden or the drive and take it to licensed facilities.

Site waste is not one material, and it pays to know the difference. Bricks, concrete, tiles and soil are heavy, so weight counts as well as volume. That type of load is covered under hardcore waste removal. Joists, studwork, doors and pallets are lighter and bulkier, and are dealt with as wood waste clearance. Plasterboard should be kept separate from general waste, so stack it on its own.

The usual alternative is a skip, but a skip on a public road needs a permit from the council and somewhere to sit. On tight streets and terraces that is often not practical. With a wait and load collection the van parks up, is loaded while it waits and leaves again. Nothing is left on the road overnight, and nobody else can fill it for you.

For trades, the paperwork matters as much as the collection. Businesses have a duty of care for the waste they produce and must keep waste transfer notes. We provide a note and an invoice for the job. Our builders waste disposal guide explains how to separate materials on site and what your options are. Send a photo of the pile for a free quote, with the price confirmed before loading.

Maximum weight 1 tonne per load

Rubble, bricks, concrete, soil and tiles are heavy. About one bulk bag of rubble or soil weighs a tonne, so heavy waste reaches the limit long before the van is full. Tell us what the load is made of and we will confirm how many loads it needs before we start.

Why choose us for builders waste clearance

No skip permit

The van loads and leaves, so there is no skip on the road, no permit to arrange and no space lost on the drive.

Labour is included

We do the lifting and loading. Your trades stay on the tools instead of barrowing rubble to the kerb.

Collected from inside

Upstairs bathrooms, back gardens and rear extensions. We take the waste from where it is, not from the pavement.

Licensed, with transfer notes

We hold upper tier waste carrier licence CBDU526130. You get a waste transfer note, which businesses must keep.

Before and after: what our builders waste clearance looks like

Before: plasterboard, timber and rubble piled on a driveway Before
After: the same driveway clear After

Separating plasterboard, rubble and timber on site

A little separation on site makes the collection quicker and the price easier to judge. Keep plasterboard in its own stack, because it should not be mixed with general waste. Bag or pile rubble, tiles and concrete together. Keep timber and metal apart from both if you have room. If there is no space to separate anything, tell us and send a photo of the mixed pile, and we will quote on what is there.

Some materials need a question first. Asbestos, which can turn up in old garage roofs, textured ceiling coatings and floor tiles, needs a specialist contractor. For paint, adhesives, solvents and gas bottles, send us a photo and we will tell you what can be done. If you are deciding between a skip and a collection for a longer project, our comparison of skip hire and a man and van sets out when each one makes sense.

Builders waste clearance FAQs

Can you take plasterboard?

Yes. Plasterboard should be kept separate from general waste, so stack it on its own where you can and tell us roughly how many sheets or bags there are. It is loaded apart from the rest and goes to a licensed facility with everything else we collect.

How do you price rubble and other heavy waste?

By load size, with a maximum weight of 1 tonne per load. Brick, concrete and soil weigh far more than the same volume of timber or packaging, so a heavy load reaches a tonne long before the van is full. Tell us how many rubble bags or bulk bags you have, or send a photo, and we will confirm the price and the number of loads before loading.

Is a collection better than a skip for building work?

For some jobs, yes. A skip suits a long project with steady waste and space to put it. A collection suits waste that is ready to go, sites with no room, and roads where a skip would need a permit. Our man and van rubbish clearance page explains how it is priced.

Can you collect more than once during a project?

Yes. Building work tends to produce waste in stages, with the strip-out first and offcuts and packaging later. Book a collection when each pile is ready. Each visit is quoted on its own by load size and comes with its own waste transfer note.

Do you provide waste transfer notes for trades?

Yes. Businesses have a duty of care for their waste and must keep transfer notes as a record of who took it. Our upper tier waste carrier licence number is CBDU526130, which you can check on the Environment Agency public register.

Do we need to bag the waste or move it outside?

No. We load loose rubble, sheets, timber and fittings from wherever they are, including upstairs rooms and back gardens. Bagging rubble does speed the job up, and waste that is already by the door takes less time to load. Access is one of the things that affects the price.
