Removing catering equipment from a working kitchen
Equipment has to be disconnected before it can be moved. Gas ranges, ovens and fryers must be disconnected by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and hard-wired or plumbed equipment by someone competent to do it. Fryers should be drained and left to cool. Fridges and freezers need emptying and, ideally, defrosting. Used cooking oil should not go in with general waste or down the drain, so ask us first if you have drums of it.
Measure the equipment and the route out. Kitchens are often built around large pieces, so a range or a long steel counter may need taking apart to get through the door, and cellar steps limit what can be carried in one piece. Tell us about extraction canopies, bolted-down counters and anything fixed to the wall. A time between services, or a closed day, gives the team a clear run through the kitchen.
