Access, keys and handing back a storage unit
Storage sites have their own rules, so check a few things before the day. Find out the access hours, whether a van can reach the loading bay and whether the site wants to know that a contractor is coming. If you cannot be there, ask the storage office how they handle access for someone acting on your behalf. We need the unit number, the floor and the padlock key or code.
Go through the unit before we arrive if you can. Take out documents, photographs and anything of value, because it is hard to pull one box back once loading has started. Storage agreements usually expect a unit to be left empty and clean, so we sweep it out at the end. If the unit holds the contents of a rented flat or house, our end of tenancy clearance page covers the property itself.
