Private bin collection when the council round is not enough

A private bin collection is a paid visit to empty your wheelie bins and take the bags stacked beside them. Households and small businesses book one after a missed council round, at busy times such as Christmas or a house move, or when a full bin will not last until the next emptying. Each visit is arranged when you need it.

Councils set their own rules, and many will not take extra bags left next to the bin or a bin with the lid forced open. That leaves the surplus sitting on your path. We empty the bins, collect the side waste and put the bins back where they belong. If the overflow is really a general clear-out, our domestic waste removal service is a better fit.

Large items do not belong in a wheelie bin, and one propped against the bins can be enough for a collection crew to leave everything behind. A mattress, a broken chair or a rolled carpet can go on the same visit through our bulky waste collection. For shared bin areas at flats that have filled with dumped waste, ask about a bin store clearance.

Small businesses use the service when trade bins fill early or a provider misses a lift. Business waste carries a legal duty of care, so we issue a waste transfer note, and our guide to the commercial waste duty of care sets out what to keep. Bigger or mixed loads are handled as a commercial waste collection. Tell us it is business waste when you ask for a quote.

How to book a private bin collection

  1. Photograph the bins

Open the lids and take a photo of each bin and any bags beside it. Send them on WhatsApp or through the quote form.

  2. We confirm what it costs

The quote is based on how much waste there is. You will know the price before the van is loaded.

  3. Bins emptied, bags loaded

Each bin is wheeled to the van and emptied. Side waste is collected and anything that has spilled is picked up.

  4. Empty bins returned

Your bins are returned to their usual spot, empty and ready for the next council round.

Why use a private bin collection

No wait for the council

Same-day or next-day visits are offered wherever possible, so full bins are not left standing until the council returns.

Side waste taken too

Extra bags and loose rubbish around the bins leave on the same visit, which a council round often will not do.

Booked only when needed

It is a one-off or arranged visit. You book when the bins are full and not before.

Licensed and documented

We carry waste under upper tier licence CBDU526130 and provide invoices and waste transfer notes as required.

Before and after: what our private bin collection looks like

Before: overflowing wheelie bins and bags on a driveway Before
After: the same bins emptied and the driveway clear After

Bin access, rejected bins and waste that has sat

Tell us where the bins are kept and how they reach the road. Back alleys, gated passages, steps and bin stores with keypads all change how we plan the visit. If the bins are behind a locked gate, either leave it open or let us know who can open it. Bins do not need to be put out on the pavement. We collect them from where they stand.

A bin left behind by the council has often been tagged for the wrong contents, such as food in the recycling or rubble in the general waste. We can still collect it, but tell us what is inside, because soil, bricks or tiles make a bin hard to move. Say so too if the waste has sat for a while and bags have split. We pick up spillage around the bins. Emptying is not cleaning, so you may want to rinse them afterwards.

Private bin collection Appley Bridge FAQs

Do you collect in Appley Bridge?

Yes. We collect from homes and businesses across Appley Bridge and the surrounding areas, and we do all the lifting. Message us on WhatsApp, email info@rubbish-removals.com or use the quote form to book.

Can I pay for a one-off bin collection?

Yes, that is what this service is. You send photos of the bins and any extra bags, we give you a price, and the team empties them and takes the waste away. It is arranged as and when you need it.

Do you take the bin away or just empty it?

We empty it and leave the bin with you. Council bins normally belong to the council and stay with the property, so we return them to where they are kept. If you have a broken bin you want gone, send a photo and we will advise.

Will you collect bags left next to the bin?

Side waste is a big part of this service. Bags, boxes and loose rubbish around the bins are loaded along with the bin contents and counted in the same load size, so there is one price for the lot.

Can a business use a private bin collection?

Shops, cafes, offices and other small businesses can book us when their trade bins are full or a collection has been missed. You receive a waste transfer note and an invoice, which you should keep with your duty of care records.

Is it possible to arrange more than one collection?

Yes. Each visit is booked when you need it. If you expect the bins to fill again, tell us when you get in touch and we will talk through what can be arranged, from a second visit to collections at agreed intervals.

My council missed my bin. Should I report it first?

It is worth reporting, because many councils will return for a missed bin if they are told promptly. Check your council's website for how to do it. If they cannot come back soon enough, or the bin was rejected, a private collection clears it in the meantime.
